About the research portal

The new research portal contains more actual information than the former IWETO-database, which could only be updated annually. We are currently developping an application which could accept multiple data deliveries each year to achieve finally a performant data platform which enables adaptations in real-time.

The lay-out and search function were revised and simplified, in order to deliver the search results to the user in a few clicks. By one extra click you can also export the results to rss-feed, XML or pdf format.

One of the most important improvements, is invisble to the end user. At the back office, all data are ordered following the CERIF data model, a European standard, which enables data exchange on international level.

Currently, the Flemish research information portal is only in the first phase. It will be increasingly expanded with content (equipment, patents, publications,…) and possible information providers (high schools, other research institutions, funding institutions,...).

The research projects and organisations are thematically classified according to the scientific discipline they belong to. For the researchers the science domains in which they are active are mentioned. You can consult the classification schemes in following tables:

The development of this portal environment is one of a large amount of projects of the FRIS-programma (Flanders Research Information Space).
