"Hore dochter", a Middle Dutch spiritual guide for nuns.

This research focuses on a text genre that has received very little attention in the study of Middle Dutch literature: the spiritual guide for nuns. The central object of investigation is Hore dochter, a fourteenth-century translation of the Instructio pie vivendi et superna meditandi. In addition similar texts (a.o. De spieghel der maechden, Der suster abteike en Spiegel der susteren) will be studied in order to determine the characteristics of this genre.
