An experimental analysis of the influence of mobility on voluntary contribution to public goods.

Vrije Universiteit Brussel

Individual benefit from the provision of public goods, even if they do not pay for them. The economic / game-theoretic suggests that "rational" human beings will not contribute on voluntary basis. The psychological-sociological approach on the other hand, predicts maximum contributions. Experimental economists have shown how the relative influences of economic, psychological and sociological motives interfere and affect the individual decision to contribute. We investigate how the willingness to cooperate in a public good context is affected by mobility.
