This PhD research wishes to make a contribution to the understanding ofthe organization of craft industry (concerning ceramics) between the Iron Age and the early imperial Roman period on the territory of the ancient Sagalassos (ca. 1000 BC – 100 AD). The aims of this study include thefull characterization of the Pisidian ceramic assemblage at hand from acombined petrographical, typo-chronological and technological angle, aswell as approaching the theoretical matrix for aspects of regional development. Methodologically, the emphasis of this study lays on the use ofdifferent archaeometrical techniques (both petrographic and geochemicalmethods) and wishes to define, from this specific angle, the concept ofthe regional economies and the development of mass production at Sagalassos. The archaeological part discusses further the possible interactionbetween sites or areas, and thus contribute to the interpretation of the socio-economic processes within the region.
