Electrical resistivity tomography and continuous resistivity profiling in front of De Panne and Koksijde

Land and marine resistivity measurement from De Panne and Koksijde, complemented with synthetic models. more The combination of two geophysical techniques is used to assess the fresh- and saltwater distribution in the phreatic aquifer. It enables to locate zone of saltwater intrusion and fresh submarine groundwater discharge. It allows to evaluate the impact of the Aquaduin on freshwater outflow to the North Sea. The synthetic models are needed are to assess the ability to quantitatively interpret the inversion of the resistivity data. The data was collected in the framework of the PhD research of Marieke Paepen, Laboratory of Applied Geology and Hydrogeology (UGent). Logistical support was provided by VLIZ for the marine surveys.
