In the research domain Integration, sustainability of the Flemish agriculture and horticulture is the core research element. Economic as well as ecological and social aspects of sustainability are integrated in the research. Methods are developed to evaluate the sustainability of a farm, chain or sector and to guide management or policy towards more sustainability.
Our scientific interests are to reveal how membrane-associated scaffold proteins and lipids participate in cell signaling and multicellular organization/homeostasis. We provided major contributions to our understanding of the importance of membrane trafficking for the biology of heparan sulfate proteoglycans, the role of phospholipids in the function of PDZ proteins and more recently the molecular mechanisms of exosome biogenesis. Our current ...
The Centre for Interaction, Law and Technology specializes in legal research into phenomena such as computer crime and information security.
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
The HCI and eHealth research unit performs research in Computer Science, focusing on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). eHealth is an important application domain in the overall research portfolio of the group. The HCI and eHealth research unit is led by Prof.dr. Karin Coninx, and the group has vast experience in basic and applied research, often in the context of a multi-/interdisciplinary research consortium. The most elaborated research ...
The Lab for Integrative cancer Genomics develops computational approaches to comprehensively chart genomic and epigenetic variation using sequencing data and elucidate their contributions to somatic evolution, tumour heterogeneity, and treatment resistance.
Modern life science research is a highly multidisciplinary endeavor often requiring the joint analysis of highly heterogeneous data sources, such as large-scale single-cell multi-omics datasets, structured ontology-driven annotations, unstructured published literature and imaging data. Using a holistic approach, one can often detect patterns which provide deeper insights into the biological and/or pathophysiological processes under study. ...
The MIDI Research Group focuses on the study of language and interaction as a social and/or conceptual practice as it can be observed in different interpersonal settings involving, for instance, spontaneous workplace, mundane and other social interactions, as well as research interviews and experimentally controlled face-to-face conversations.
