EU-Genomics: EU Infrastructure for genomic analysis. (EU GENOMICS)

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has taken modern research by storm and consequently is one of the most important tools of modern biological and biomedical research. However, the high cost of instrumentation and reagents, the multifaceted expertise required for correct use and the legal and ethical issues hamper access to NGS technologies for many researchers. EU-Genomics aims to address those challenges by unifying the major European genome centers that provide external access to their facilities. The mission of EU-Genomics is to facilitate access to cuttingedge DNA sequencing technologies to researchers from both academia and industry, within a framework that ensures compliance with ethical and legal requirements, as well as FAIR and secure data management. The EU-Genomics project aims to build a community of practice, which leverages advanced sequencing technologies beyond country and sector borders to tackle global challenges in science. International co-ordination will catalyse research partnerships and foster mobility of researchers between member states and between industry and academia.

Currently our main contribution and attraction pole are long read sequencing, single cell (multi-)omics and clinical grade sequence data analysis. Unique services range from transcriptome and genome sequencing on all scales, high-throughput variant calling (CNVs, SNVs), epigenetic analyses to high-throughput gene panel (amplicon) analyses (short and long-reads). Analyses for non-model species include de novo genome sequencing and assembly, Genotyping-by-sequencing, SkimSeq. Furthermore, long read molecule sequencing de novo assemblies of several organisms can be realized. Specifically for single-cell analyses, the unit currently offers services for 10x Genomics droplet-based single-cell RNA-seq, automated Smart-seq2 in SBS 96-well or 384-well plate formats as well as in microfluidic C1 devices, single-cell genome sequencing and single-cell multi-omics approaches.
