More than 6.000 new projects annually in FRIS

FRIS comprises a growing number of research projects of the Flemish knowledge institutions.  In 2024 nearly 7000 newly started projects were reported.  Most of them are situated in the fields of Natural sciences and Medical and health sciences (each 23%).  The Social sciences and Engineering and technology are following and are equally strongly represented (each 20%). The Humanities and the arts (10%) and Agricultural, veterinary and food sciences (4%) account for the remainder of the projects.  About 1% of the projects had no science disciplines assigned to them.  The figures for 2025 are interim results (31/10/2025).
