Study week Mathematics for Industry (BRGEOZ425)

From BE-MATHS-IN, the Belgian network that brings together researchers from all Belgian universities who work on applied mathematics for industry and innovation, we are organizing a study week “Mathematics for Industry”. This study week is a problem-solving week that brings together young researchers, postdocs, senior academic staff and company representatives. During a week, groups of 6-8 researchers will brainstorm and work together to solve challenges provided by the industry. For this first edition we are aiming at 4 different industrial problems, or approx. 25-30 participants. The groups are formed on the first day of the study week after the various problems have been presented by the company representatives. After this, each group works in a separate room on the chosen problem in close collaboration with the company representative. We therefore expect companies to actively participate in the study week, preferably on site, and if necessary via video call, telephone or e-mail. We also provide various networking opportunities, not only between researchers but also between researchers and companies.
