  • Research Expertise  (University of Antwerp):My research activities are focused on two domains, namely competency-based healthcare education and the profession of midwifery. The first domain encompasses all healthcare professions, and my interest primarily lies in workplace learning. Scientific research in healthcare education is situated at the intersection of pedagogical sciences and healthcare. In Flanders, it is a less recognized discipline compared to some neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands, where I also obtained my doctorate. Within the field of midwifery, I conduct research on topics related to midwifery competencies as well as specific subjects within the broad scope of midwifery practice. Most of my research is qualitative, but I also have a keen interest in quantitative research.
  • Disciplines  (University of Antwerp):Family planning, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Reproductive medicine, Gynaecology and obstetrics not elsewhere classified, Neonatology, Other medical and health sciences not elsewhere classified
  • Disciplines  (Ghent University):Education systems, Other pedagogical and educational sciences, Education curriculum, General pedagogical and educational sciences, Specialist studies in education
  • Research techniques  (University of Antwerp):I am particularly familiar with qualitative research techniques. I have conducted several Delphi studies for the development and validation of competency frameworks. Recently, I was the project leader for an FWO project where we employed various techniques including user design thinking (for prototype development), literature review, and Delphi studies. For educational research, I utilize the Educational Design Based research methodology. Additionally, in the context of supervising master's theses and doctoral dissertations, I also have experience with quantitative research, for which I pursued a postgraduate degree at UGent years ago.
  • Users of research expertise  (University of Antwerp):With my research expertise spanning various domains, I have interacted with diverse stakeholders throughout my professional journey. These include students, professionals, employers, industry associations, governmental bodies, and others, both domestically and internationally. While my primary focus lies within the healthcare sector, I have also collaborated with stakeholders from fields such as pedagogy, IT, communication sciences, and law, particularly in projects related to ePortfolio development.
