Project

Combining p-values and effect sizes in the meta-analysis of single-case experiments: Monte Carlo simulations, R package, and applications on treating challenging behaviour among persons with intellectual disabilities.

Our objectives for the postdoctoral project are threefold: (1) provide a methodological and statistical evaluation of the methods that can be used to conduct meta-analyses of single case experiments (SCEMAs) and study the pros and cons of the different methods for specific situations (i.e., methods for combining p-values as well as methods for combining effect sizes; we will systematically compare these methods through Monte Carlo simulations), (2) further develop and distribute the existing R package on SCEMAs, in order to optimize the applicability and userfriendliness of these statistical techniques, and (3) validate and illustrate these statistical techniques and the use of the developed R package in a substantial research domain: intervention research for challenging behaviour among persons with intellectual disabilities.
