Project

Generalization Research in Ill health and Psychopathology: Transdiagnostic processes.

The general aim of this project is the study of generalization in psychopathology and ill health from a multifaceted perspective, combining expertise on learning, attention, memory, symptom perception and psychophysiology. In a coherent set of work packages, we want to broaden the scientific approach of generalization:

  1. by including perceptual as well as non-perceptual forms of generalization
  2. extending the set of typical stimuli and including internal ones
  3. investigating the role of basic information processing variables related to encoding, consolidation and rehearsal, and retrieval.

In pre-clinical studies, we will test the relevance of our approach and findings for diagnostic and therapeutic issues, while in clinical valorization studies, we will put our theorizing and findings to test in real life to prevent and treat adverse effects of generalization.
