The department ORPS is responsible for the major course Orthopedic Psychology in the Psychology program, and focuses on the scientific study of and assistance for children and young people in problematic educational situations. Orthopedic psychology situates and addresses problems within the social context. Assistance is aimed at children and young people as well as on their (professional) educators and focuses on the entire socio-cultural context in which the children and young people grow up. The research of the department is organized within two research lines, which comprise different subdomains. The first research line is the study of special educational and educational situations. The second research line combines the research into orthopedagogical and psychological care.
