Project
Beyond the sum of its parts: Towards a network approach of risk of sexual reoffending
The overall objective of this dissertation project is to improve the quality of sex offender treatment through effective assessment and treatment of dynamic risk factors in adult male sex offenders. Based on the available scientific research and existing gaps in research, the research questions are the following:
1. How well do dynamic risk assessment instruments predict sexual recidivism in sex offenders and to what extent do they add predictive validity to static risk assessment instruments?
2. To what degree is change in dynamic risk factors (as measured with dynamic risk assessment instruments) predictive of sexual recidivism?
3. How do the dynamic risk factors of sex offenders interrelate and which dynamic risk factor forms a key factor for prevention of recidivism and should be considered a main target of treatment?
4. What is the effect of a specific therapeutic intervention on dynamic risk factors of male adult sex offenders as measured by the STABLE-2007?
