CALICO: Care and Living in Community (EU585)

The CALICO project was developed by the Community Land Trust Brussels (CLTB). This non-profit organization was founded in 2012 with the support of the Brussels government and works on access to housing for everyone. Through the CALICO project, the CLTB, Brussels Housing and their partners will create a new type of intergenerational and multicultural group housing.

This pilot project comprises 33 new housing units on the territory of the municipality of Vorst and is aimed at single mothers and also for the elderly and low-income families. The development of the new housing units is participatory and inclusive. The CALICO project provides a total package of services from birth to life and also includes mutual support for residents. UIA makes a budget of 5 million euros available for this project.
