SWAMP:Schistosomiasis in West-Uganda: Analyse and Mapping of Prevalence

In 2014, the WHO highlighted vector-borne diseases as a global public health priority affecting more than 1 billion people, mainly in developing countries. Among these diseases, schistosomiasis ranks second only to malaria in terms of prevalence and morbidity. In Uganda many regions are severely affected by the disease and knowledge gaps on prevalence and transmission exist, especially for remote areas. With this project, we aim to streamline data-collection among health workers, centralizing schistosomiasis prevalence data with adequate detail to assist local researchers and policy makers in using this data to better understand its dynamics, target interventions and monitor their impacts.
