Project

Strengthen molecular diagnostic capacities for the management of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in South Kivu

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is defined as being resistant to at least two first-line anti-TB drugs, including rifampicin to isoniazid. An ongoing study demonstrates the increase in MDR-TB cases and therefore the need to make a correct diagnosis to support the management of MDR-TB patients. Through this project, we seek to strengthen existing skills for longitudinal surveillance of multi-resistance in South Kivu and to limit the spread by providing appropriate care.
