  • Research Expertise:Strengthen the quality and sustainability of immunisation programmes and services, in particular in low- and middle-income countries. Key activities include: (1) supporting pre-service health training institutions with modernizing outdated EPI curricula and training medical- and nursing-school tutors in modern EPI theory and practice; (2) strengthening the capacity of in-service healthcare workers at all levels of the immunisation programme through different types of courses and training workshops. These training events will highlight the importance of vaccination along the life-course approach, including timely introduction and rapid scale up of new and underused vaccines at all ages; (3) strengthening the capacity of the National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) in evidence-based recommendations making through round table discussions and workshops; (4) operational research to assess the level of vaccine hesitancy/acceptance at country level and develop plans to improve public understanding and build confidence in immunisation services.
