Multipurpose multiphoton confocal laser scanning microscope (R-7087)

A confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) is an indispensable tool in several research areas, and especially for biological / biomedical research. There is currently one such device present on the Hasselt University. This device is placed in the Biomedical Research Institute. The CLSM is widely used, also by other institutes of Hasselt University in collaboration with BIOMED. However, the current device is no longer up to date and the purchase of a new CLSM can no longer be postponed. The intended device has an increased sensitivity and allows good images in register to a shorter period of time at low incident light intensity, thereby strongly reducing the phototoxicity. The device also has an increased spatial resolution. Several advanced techniques are combined in the device so that it can be used for a variety of research questions. This investment in increased performance will confirm the Hasselt University in the field of optical microscopy and increase opportunities for project acquisition and (inter)national partnerships.
