FWO travel grant for participation at a workshop in Europe - London 27 through 28 June 2019: 7th annual upper limb neurorehabilitation course treating patients with upper limb deficit: intergrating research into practice (R-10283)

The UCLP Centre for Neurorehabilitation and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery organises a course on upper limb neurorehabiliation. This two-day course provides an up-to-date overview of current research in treatment and rehabilitation options for the neurological patient with upper limb deficit. The course looks at the real-life translation of scientific evidence into clinical practice and discusses the ingredients that make an upper limb therapy effective. The courses are given by Prof. dr. Nick Ward, Kate Kelly Consultant Occupational Therapist and Fran Brander Consultant Physiotherapist. Prof. dr. Nick Ward is lead of the first dedicated upper limb neurorehabilitation programme in the UK. In addition to his clinical work in the UCLP center for Neurorehabilitation, he runs a research programme using structural and functional brain imaging to understand the mechanisms of recovery of movement after stroke, to define optimal treatments of upper limb impairment and to predict long term outcomes after stroke.
