The fetal patient and the future of prenatal medicine: a philosophical and ethical inquiry

Recent and expected technological developments in prenatal medicine raise new ethical challenges. The facilitation of in utero treatment because of advances in fetal therapy and artificial womb technology entail a panoply of normative questions about moral obligations to treat the fetus as a patient and how these relate to maternal autonomy. This project aims to contribute to this upcoming debate.
