Cancer in pregnancy: Longitudinal follow-up of child development after prenatal exposure to maternal cancer

Previous research conducted by the Cancer in Pregnancy research group has shown that oncological treatment in pregnancy may be effective without adverse impact upon the health and development of the child. However, long-term follow-up is limited and several findings, such as a tendency towards lower birthweight and a lower verbal IQ in children exposed to chemo– and/or radiotherapy in utero, require further investigation. This PhD will therefore continue the work from a previous thesis to improve our understanding of the possible consequences of oncological treatment(s) during pregnancy and hence optimise the treatment of pregnant women with cancer.
