Design framework and solutions for self-deployable smart connected sensors

Wireless sensor networks are used in various applications. However, many applications require that no technical knowledge is needed to install, use and maintain the sensor network. For example, sensor networks with a large number of widespread sensors such as environmental sensing or local sensor networks used in remote therapy. This research focuses on self-deployable connected sensors. In order to achieve a sensor network that is self-deployable and can be used in an application, there are two necessary aspects that need to be investigated. A first aspect is the automatic organisation of the wireless sensor network. A second aspect is application-based self-management of the sensors. A design framework will be developed to support this, and it will be applied to representative use cases.
