FAANS: Fast and Accurate Array-based Near-field Scanning

This project aims to develop an innovating new type of electromagnetic near-field scanner based on an array of probes with a never before seen speed and accuracy. The measurement system will provide an accuracy comparable to a single probe system based on compensation algorithms combined with a speed which can even facilitate in-line production electromagnetic testing. With a new parallel receiver design the measuring system will also provide new possibilities in modelling stochastic fields and general EMI debugging. The proof of concept can immediately be used in the electromagnetic compatibility and antenna laboratory of the KU Leuven. The project FAANS will provide a leverage for KU Leuven to new research in electromagnetic field measurements and post processing methods as well as provide licensing of IP to industry in Belgium and Europe.
