Project

Research manager to introduce single cell omics activities in the core. (GENOMICS)

Our knowledge about genomes, epigenomes and transcriptomes is mainly obtained from the analyses of multiple cells together. However, such assays are averages and individual cellullar variation is lost. The possibility to sequence individual cells is reshaping our fundamental knowledge about normal development, ageing and diseases. This revolution is the basis for the erection of a single cell institute (SCI) at the KULeuven. This institute will bring together interdisciplinary expertise to develop new technologies. The GC will leverage the sequencing activities for the institute as well as external laboratories. We will hire a research manager to guide this revolution and more specifically to (1) support single cell omics developments, (2) support automation, (3) integrate technical developments into the service activities, (4) provide necessary bioinformatic support and (5) assure rendability.
