Long-term live cell imaging of intracellular signals and cell death.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS), intracellular calcium and DNA damage are all intimately linked to cell death along necrotic, apoptotic, immunogenic and cellular senescence pathways. These fundamental mechanisms play frontline roles in disease as well as in treatment. Here, we propose approaches and equipment for long-term live cell imaging of crucial signals, aiming to exploit the acquired knowledge to improve therapy.
