Project

Transition from INTEGO-MHC as a database to a monitoring instrument for the surveillance of health effects related to environmental exposure in our living environment

The aim is to gain insight into the impact of environmental factors on the health of the inhabitants in Flanders. We look at our living environment from a health perspective (ie based on health data, or the clinical picture of the Fleming as registered by the GP). This will allow on the one hand to steer (preventive) health policy, and on the other hand to support other policy areas with a health focus (Health in all Policies). In fact, we are developing a medical environmental surveillance that allows us to focus on Population Health Management. This 'relatively new' approach helps us to understand our current health and care needs, but will also try to predict these needs. In this way, this will allow us to diversify in the actions we can take, support the individual to see his or her place within the population, organize sustainable (environmental and health) care, and allow us to make public space more sustainable or healthier.
