Light sheet microscopy for interdisciplinary research in life sciences

Several research programs in the Interdisciplinary Facility Life Sciences (IRF Ls) demand imaging whole organisms, tissues, cells or organs. Such technology is currently not available, putting a major limitation on various research lines. Light sheet fluorescence microscopy with its unique illumination principle is ideal for fast and gentle imaging of such specimens and allows imaging very large optically cleared specimens in toto, and with subcellular resolution. With light sheet microscopy, using dedicated optics, sample chambers specific clearing methods, imaging of large samples become possible and as such, light sheet microscopy would meet the pressing demand in IRF Ls, especially in the field of thrombosis research, tissue engineering and aquatic biology.
