Exploring the influence of high-speed railway on the development of urban industries in China

This study explores the impact of high-speed railways (HSRs) on the development of urban industries in China. The research employs industries data and geospatial high-speed railway data. In addition, statistical and geospatial methods such as correspondence analysis and differencein-difference are applied to evaluate industry composition, the development of different sectors, and the connectivity of each city. This research aims to (1) estimate the connectivity of each prefecturallevel city in China in recent years in relation to the construction of HSRs; (2) evaluate the impact of HSRs resulting from the changes in connectivity on urban industry development at both national and regional scales between 2000 and 2017.
