Project

A hybrid, multimodal methodology for automatic tool wear inspection (ATWI)

The overall objective of this project is to create a breakthrough in monitoring and predicting the tool wear of metalworking processes, both by direct (vision-based) and indirect (sensor-data-based) methods, and using artificial intelligence techniques. These methods will be integrated in a hybrid approach. This will lead to i) new methods to capture the relevant (vision-based and sensor-based) data on tool wear, ii) a breakthrough in correlating data / images and the correct state of the tool wear and iii) innovative integration of the information about the tool wear. state of the tool in production strategies.
