Open PhD position in Human-Computer Interaction

Despite the fact that several explanation methods have been elaborated in recent years to enable end-users to understand the rationale of machine learning models, most of these methods are tailored to expert users and require machine learning expertise. In this PhD research, we will investigate how these methods can be tailored to the needs of non-expert users, and more specifically teachers, to enable the use of machine learning models for e-assessment. We will research the design of different explanation methods in collaboration with teachers and evaluate the utility and effectiveness of different methods in real-life scenarios.
