Investigating the role of metabolism in metastasizing breast cancer cells

Tumor metastasis is a common cause of cancer-related deaths.  Recently it has emerged that metastasizing cancer cells rewire their metabolism.  Thus, understanding the distinct metabolic characteristics of tumor metastasis is critical for combatting cancer.  In this project, I will investigate how metabolic rewiring drives metastasis and I will define novel therapeutic strategies to prevent and inhibit metastases growth.
