Project
Machine Learning for IOT Sensors and Wearables in Healthcare Applications
It is expected that more than 20% of the world population will be over 60 by 2050 and chronic disease will affect more than 8 out of 10 people over 60. Aging in place (or aging at home) has become an important aspect of redefining healthcare policy for elderly and meets the need of policy makers that aim to save costs compared to expensive institutional care. The aim of this project is to develop ICT – tools that support elderly and caregivers in assessing health conditions. For this purpose novel applications are developed in the following domains: i) activity recognition with wearables and IOT sensors ii) adaptive learning and transfer learning in the area of machine learning Use cases : incontinence monitoring with IOT sensors, food intake monitoring with smart-plate and wearables and frailty detection based on wearables and IOT sensors.
