A continuum of consciousness: from wakefulness and sentience towards anoetic consciousness

The concept of sentience proposed by Pereira Jr. (this issue) partially overlaps with the concept of anoetic consciousness that I have proposed in previous work. This commentary focuses on functional and phenomenological similarities and differences between them.
