Models and algorithms for batch scheduling and hybrid flow shop scheduling.

Book - Dissertation

This doctoral dissertation studies scheduling problems with batch processing and hybrid flow shop. These two kinds of environments exist widely in practice, e.g., semiconductor production, steel, 3D printing, and so on, which makes them important from both theoretical and practical points of view. For three problems, we provide models and algorithms to optimize them. Specifically, Chapter 2 studies the scheduling of a single parallel-batching machine with non-identical job sizes and incompatible job families. Chapter 3 considers the problem of sequential testing in batches with recourse constraints. Chapter 4 studies the problem of scheduling hybrid flow shops with time windows.
