The climate potential of garden management: a socio-ecological perspective

In this research we will improve our knowledge base on garden management and Nature-Based-Solutions (NBS), and its effectiveness on climate change adaptation. We will monitor and model the impact of different NBS types on urban climate (including air temperature, air quality, water regulation) and analyze the uptake of NBS in citizens’ private outdoor spaces. We will combine geo-IT and citizen science approaches to characterize the urban environment and gaining insight into the factors that drive or impede the uptake of NBS, thereby enabling more effective decision-making.
