Integrated control of plant-parasitic nematodes in tree nurseries and in potato production using wakeful plants

Because of the outphasing of chemical soil treatments, problems with plant-parasitic nematodes are expected to rise significantly. The primary goal of this project is to develop an integrated pest management strategy to control plant-parasitic nematodes in tree nurseries and in potato cultivation. This integrated approach will consist of: (1) increased wakefulness concerning nematodes (also when no symptoms are detected yet) (2) evaluation of (bio)pesticides, (3) optimalization of (bio)pesticides, (4) determining soil health by analysing biological soil communites (nematodes and microbiome), (5) optimizing crop rotations. Training sessions for farmers will be organised (6). The obtained results will most likely also be implementable in other agricultural sectors.
