Conducting a capacity monitor for education

Since 2010, the Flemish Government has released specific resources to create additional school capacity. These resources are allocated annually on the basis of existing and future local capacity needs in regular and special primary and secondary education. The capacity monitor makes a prognosis of the future capacity needs by mapping different factors, such as demographic evolutions, commuter movements of pupils and through-flow and outflow in education. The aim of the capacity monitor is to identify future capacity needs in municipalities and education zones so that capacity resources can be targeted to prevent possible shortages. In addition we take a closer look at the commuting movements of pupils in regular and special education.
