The origin and evolution of galaxies

My research for the coming years focuses mainly on two types of stellar systems : dwarf galaxies and poststarburst

galaxies. The main motivation for my research plan is to unravel the physical processes that drive galaxy

evolution. Dwarf galaxies, owing to their low mass, are very sensitive to internal processes, such as supernova

explosions, and external influences, such as interactions. Post-starburst galaxies are caught during the brief

transition phase between being blue, star-forming galaxies and red, quiescent systems. These properties make

them prime targets for my research, which I am conducting in close collaboration with many colleagues from

abroad.
