Modelbased control of the high-rate activated sludge system in order to optimize energy production from wastewater

The high-rate activated sludge system, applied in a two-stage process, is a technology suitable for redirection of organics from wastewater to energy recovery processes. To date, the lack of knowledge about the mechanisms that drive these systems is still a performance-limiting factor. In this project a model-based analysis of the high-rate system in combination with experimental work will be performed.
