New ribosome-inactivating proteins from wheat: role in regulation of cell death and involvement in stress signaling and plant protection

The aim of this research is to study the physiological importance of some newly discovered stress-inducible ribosome-inactivating proteins in cereals, in particular in wheat. This research will contribute to a better understanding of the mode of action of these proteins and their involvement in cell death and plant growth. These data can be used for crop protection purposes and can help to generate plants that are more stress tolerant.
