Droplet impact dynamics and freezing characteristics on cold textured surfaces

Droplet impact and freezing upon a solid surface is ubiquitous in nature and affects many aspects of our life. The aims at anti-icing on vehicles, plants and artificial architectures, and at controlling freezing/solidification processes in industries make it imperative to unravel the physical mechanisms pertaining to these phenomena. This study is focused on the dynamics and freezing process of water droplets on cold textured surfaces in order to enrich the knowledge of ice accretion and provide novel strategies for manipulating the solidified profiles and developing de-icing technologies.
