Project

Towards improved estimates of Senegalese emigration flows and understanding of the role of social networks and health as transmission channels for climate-induced migration.

This project delivers improved statistics on Senegalese emigration through a combination of traditional (typically incomplete and outdated) and digital data; and empirically analyses the role of social networks (estimated using digital data as well) and health as – often overlooked - channels through which climate change may affect migration, thereby controlling for traditional determinants of migration decisions in Senegal.
