Project

BRUTUS: BRUsselse TUtoren voor Scholieren (VLOV171)

The BRUTUS project is a peer tutoring project that mainly focuses on two important target groups, the pupils and the students.

The project aims to offer SCHOLIEREN-TUTEES (mainly non-native and/or underprivileged young people with an immigrant background) from Brussels Dutch-speaking secondary education a support in their learning process. In addition to helping to reduce the learning disadvantages (partly due to the corona crisis), we work on the study and language skills to increase the chances of success of the pupils. We bring the students into contact with role models (student tutors, peers) and strive to motivate them to continue their studies.

The project aims to familiarize STUDENT-TUTORS, as potential future teachers or workers for Brussels or other metropolitan areas, with the specific multicultural, social and multilingual characteristics of Brussels. The project also aims to give the tutors the opportunity to further develop their pedagogical and social skills by completing a tutoring course in a safe and supervised context.
