Dynamical characterization of magnetic nanostructures

The characterization of magnetic nanostructures is not only interesting in the context of fundamental physical or chemical research, but is also crucial to optimize their use in technological and biomedical applications.

The requested AC-susceptometer allows to realize previous statement by probing the dynamic magnetic properties, i.e. how much and how fast the magnetziation builds up in the presence of a magnetic field. This gives insight in a broad range of magnetic processes, like internal magnetization reversals (Néel switching), Brownian rotational motion of susepended structures, or domain wall motion in non-uniformly magnetized structures.  The measurements can be interpreted to give insight in the magnetic material properties of the system,  the energy barriers in e.g. an artificial spin ice, and the size of magnetic particles. Furthermore, it allows to investigate clustering processes.
