Department of Physics and Astronomy
Department
The mission statement of the department captures its drive to advance scientific knowledge about the physical Universe, from its smallest subnuclear building blocks, across the complex intermediate scales, and up to its largest extragalactic structures and the Universe itself. This endeavour is fundamentally driven by the department’s curiosity and rooted in contemporary experimental, computational and theoretical explorations and collaborations. The department is organised in 7 research units (RUs): - Astronomy and Physics Education group (APER), Laboratory of Soft Matter and Biophysics (ZMB), Laboratory for Semiconductor Physics (HF), Insitute for Nuclear and Radiation Physics (IKS), Quantum Solid-State Physics (QSP), Institute of Astronomy (IoA) and the Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITF)
