20th CENTURY MUSIC - Historical and analytical aspects of 20th century music, with a specific focus on the Second Viennese School (Schoenberg, Berg, Webern). - The recent chamber music of the Flemish Composer K. Goeyvaerts in international perspective (1980-95). - The serial works of Stravinsky. MUSICOLOGY: Alamire FOUNDATION - Music in the Southern Netherlands in general, with a specific focus on Flemish polyphony during the Renaissance. - Systematic archival research of music and musical life at the collegiate churches in the Southern Netherlands. - Systematic catalogue of the musical manuscripts in Belgium, ca. 1600-1850. MUSICOLOGY: Jean de Castro - Research of the biography and the work of Jean de Castro, one of the most important contemporaries of Orlandus Lassus (1532- 1594). - Edition of the opera omnia of Jean de Castro in ca. 20 volumes (ca. 400 compositions from two to eight voices: Latin masses and motets, French chansons, Italian madrigals). - Style analysis in comparison with contemporary composers (e.g. Lassus).
