Organisation profile:

The Nature & Society research team is an interdisciplinary team investigating the relationships between people and nature in Flanders. From a rich array of social, economic, ecological and participatory concepts and methodologies, we study the complexity and interconnectedness of social and ecological systems. Our research results in new insights and knowledge for policy and for concrete support for solutions in practice.

The research of the Nature & Society team focuses on landscapes where nature, agriculture, urban and other functions are intertwined. The team coordinates 3 themes of INBO's Position Paper: Nature in the city, Agriculture and biodiversity and Multifunctional open space. Through local, regional and international projects, we bring together scientific knowledge with societal expertise. Our projects contribute to robust, sustainable and equitable connections between nature and actors in Flanders.
