Translational Imaging Research Alliance

Research Group

Lifecycle:18 Jan 2010 →  30 Jun 2019
Organisation profile:

The goal of translational research is to translate research results from fundamental research into new clinical applications. Translational research in the field of imaging can be divided into three topics: 1. Imaging equipment The first objective of the alliance is to make available the existing infrastructure for researchers of the two university communities and to establish a common strategy for future heavy investments. 2. Image reconstruction and analysis The aim of the alliance is to further stimulate interaction between relevant researchers and to form a common point of contact for new industry initiatives and, on the other hand, the development of new algorithms focused on specific biological questions of researchers within The research community of UGent-VUB. 3. Molecular probes With the UGent-VUB alliance between the research groups, we want to be stronger with the demand for translational government budgets, such as the development of a GMP probe (1 probe = about 1 million euros). Phase 1 clinical research is conducted at the Center for Medical Imaging of the UZBrussel (Prof. Axel Bossuyt, Prof. Johan de Mey, Prof. Tony Lahoutte).
