Application of sustainable carbonaceous nanostructured materials for the treatment of recalcitrant pollutants from industrial effluents and study of the involved mechanisms

The current doctoral project responds to the necessity of developing the sustainable treatment method to deal with the highly polluted industrial effluents. This proposal aims the application of advanced types of nanomaterials, as a pre-treatment of industrial effluents, prior to treatment with conventional membrane technologies in order to enhance the treatment parameters of the membrane technologies (such as fouling degree and treated water quality). Innovations in this field can considerably contribute to satisfying the future needs for efficient and cost-effective technologies to deal with highly polluted industrial effluents.
